Computer Science Department

A community of active researchers, dedicated teachers and excellent students makes up the Department of Computer Science at Clarkson University. 在一起, we pursue, develop and acquire the knowledge and skills that are necessary in a world that relies critically on computer technology. 教师, undergraduates and graduate students in the department perform research in a wide range of areas spanning theory, artificial intelligence, 安全, 软件, systems and networks. A quick overview of research done in the department can be found here.

Whether you're earning a BS, 硕士 or PhD in computer science at Clarkson, you will get hands-on experience developing 软件 and 软件 systems, incorporating aspects such as design, theory and application. This is done both inside and outside the classroom. For example, our department is home to Clarkson's famous COSI (Clarkson Open Source Institute) Lab — an environment for open-source projects.

Undergraduate students can pursue a BS in computer science. Through coursework, access to laboratories and research with 教师, undergrads cover areas including computer networks and operating systems, cryptography and 安全, algorithms and formal aspects of computation, virtual reality and human-computer interaction, and 软件 verification.

Graduate students in the 硕士 or PhD in computer science programs benefit from an interdisciplinary format. The MS program is offered jointly with the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering.
